Trucking in Neville Island and later working for the Pittsburgh Steelers on their training camp staff. Beloved husband of 27 years of Constance R. "Connie" (Ravotti) DeFrances; beloved father of Raymond P. DeFrances (Sheryl) of Findlay Twp., Kathy Alward (Clay) of Richmond, VA, Michele M. Kearney (Jack) of N. Fayette Twp., Marcy L. Steixner (Pete) of Shelby Twp., MI, and Kimberly A. Murray (Scott) of Canton, MI; and eight grandchildren; brother of Lorraine Bertovich (Matthew) of Monroeville, PA, known throughout the area for raising roses at his residence and was known as the "rose man". No public visitation. KOEHNKE HENRY CALVIN Went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, with his family by his side. Cal was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Pittsburgh to Henry Frederick and Edna Mary Coleman Koehnke. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1944 until his honorable discharge on Aug. 2, 1946. He returned home to begin his apprenticeship as a floor installer. He soon met the love of his life, Rose Marie Berdych, at West View Park. They married Sept. 9, 1950. Cal and Rose raised their family living in West Mifflin, PA. Many people were pleased and proud of the accomplishments Cal achieved in his profession. He served the Lord in various capacities through his church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hills. Cal loved singing tenor in various choirs and frequently drew pictures to satisfy the artistic side of his talents. Cal is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rose Marie; daughter, Karen (Steve) Kalber, of Davenport, IA; son, Henry Calvin, Jr., of McKees Rocks, PA; and daughter, Cynthia Marie, of South Park; grandsons, Henry Maxwell Kalber, of Iowa City, IA; and Peter Steward Kalber, of San Francisco, CA; he is also survived by his sisters, Doris Larson, of Waldorf, MD; Mary Lee (Wayne) Dahlinger, of Plano, TX; and his brother, John Robert (Marlyn) Koehnke, of Bethel Park, PA; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Calvin Craig Koehnke. No visitation. Services will be held at a later date, with burial in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA. GREENIER MARY VIRGINIA “GINNY” Age 75, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2014. Ginny was born May 3, 1939, to the late Frank James Fitzpatrick and Anna Mae Glenn in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a resident of Winter Haven, FL for the past eight years. Prior to that, she was a resident of Cranberry Township, PA. Ginny was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Also, she was very involved with and a long-time member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry Township, PA. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Porter James Greenier and is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Joseph Greenier, Jr.; five children, Tim Greenier, Sr. (Jamie), Terry Greenier (Leslyn), Tom Greenier (Erin), Colleen Cravener, and Jacqueline Marsh (John); 14 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be conducted on September 15, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Lebanon, died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at the home of her daughter, Carol Christy Raughley, in East Stroudsburg, PA, where she had resided for the past six years. Beloved wife of the late Rev. Dr. Wilbur C. Christy; loving mother of Dr. Wallace Christy, Barbara Christy Filner, Carol Christy Raughley, Kathryn Christy Roseberry, and Kenneth Christy; also survived by her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, sister-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Marjorie and her late husband, Dr. Wilbur Christy were former missionary workers in Pakistan, India and longtime residents of Mt. Lebanon, where Dr. Christy pastored for many years at Mt. BROWN MARGARET M. Age 85, of Latrobe, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. She was born on March 14, 1929, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Joseph N. Shonborn and Margaret (McCormick) Shonborn. She was a member at St. Rose Church and its Rosary Altar Christian Mothers and St. Rose Seniors. She was retired from Kaufman's. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Brown; and a brother, Paul Shonborn. She is survived by a sister, Betty Baldesberger, of Pittsburgh; and she is also survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A vibrant and free spirit, Gae worked as a music teacher, a french horn player, and later as a district manager, first for Jo-Ann Fabrics and then for Thermal Industries. She enriched the lives of many through her yoga classes, masterful gardening, sewing, photography, dinner parties, and general openness to the world. WHAYLAND MARY GAW Age 81, of Bridgeville, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2014. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Oliver Whayland; sisters, Patricia Dorn and Barbara Grunn; brother, Robert Gaw; sister-in-law, Charlotte Brummitt; and brother-in-law, Donald Brummitt. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Whayland (Greg) of Branford, CT; her son, Steve Whayland (Diana) of Madison, WI and their children, Michael, David, Jack and Peter; her daughter, Amy Van Kleeck (Bruce) of West Grove, PA, and their children, Bryan and Matthew; her daughter, Laurie Whayland of Gaithersburg, MD; and nine nieces and nephews. Mary received her nursing degree from the University of Pittsburgh and worked as a nurse at Shadyside Hospital, she was an avid sports fan and loved all the Pittsburgh teams, she played bridge regularly, volunteered at both St. Clair Memorial Hospital and Christ United Methodist Church, and most of all enjoyed visits and spending time with her children and grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102, on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at St. Clair Country Club, 2300 Old Washington Road, Upper St. Clair, PA 15241 from 5 to 10 p.m., following the service.
