SHORTUSE RICHARD ERTZMAN 89, of Haines City, FL went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2013. Dick was born to the late William and Rebecca (Eardley) Shortuse on Jan. 19, 1924 in Greenfield, PA. During WWII, he fought in both theaters on the USS Salem. In 1942, he married the love of his life, Maxine Kaltenborn. The pair resided in Pittsburgh and were members of the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church before relocating to Florida. Before retiring, Dick was a machinist at J&L Steel. He was also a member of the Freemasons, receiving his 60 year Masonic service pin. Dick had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed camping and biking. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harrison Shortuse; and a daughter, Sandra Gail Shortuse. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 71 years, Maxine; three children, Rick Shortuse of Ephrata, PA; Donna Cirinelli of Ruffs Dale, PA; and Nancy Mull of Haines City, FL; six grandchildren, Josh Shortuse, Katie Midgett, Ethan Cirinelli, Lacey Pappasergi, Stephanie Robinson, and Richard Mull; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Aug. 13, 2013 at the Lake Hamilton Presbyterian Church in Lake Hamilton, FL, where he was a member.
