
HERBERT RONALD, Sr. Passed away on May 11, 2014, and was a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all. Ron was born on September 4, 1939, in Carnegie, PA to late parents, Lawrence and Rose Marie Herbert. He graduated from Carnegie High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was married for 54 years to the love of his life, Gemma Handerhan. Ron worked in the Pittsburgh manufacturing industry and retired from General Electric Company. After retirement, Ron lived in the communities of Whispering Pines, NC, The Villages in Florida, Sun City in South Carolina, and Frisco Lakes, TX. Ron was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed golfing, biking, bowling, bocce ball, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed helping others in need and was considered a "handyman" to all. He will always be remembered as a loving husband to Gemma Handerhan Herbert; father to Ron Herbert, Jr., Charlotte, NC and Beth McGaw and husband, Steve, Dallas, TX; grandfather to Brian McGaw, Brooklyn, NY, Eric McGaw, Los Angeles, CA, and Brad McGaw, Dallas, TX; brother to Martin Herbert, Longview, TX, Lawrence Herbert, Jr., Pittsburgh, PA, and the late Shirley Herbert Fisher; loving son-in-law to Ann Handerhan; brother-in-law to Ruth Walker, Carnegie, PA, Clare Sanchez, Tampa, FL, Col. Michael Handerhan, West Palm Beach, FL, Joseph Handerhan, New York, NY, Gary Handerhan, Carnegie, PA, and Kevin Handerhan, Cranberry, PA, as well as the late Margie Kaiser, Tim Handerhan, and John Handerhan. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on June 6, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Carnegie, PA.
