FARQUHAR JOE Age 82, of Moon Twp., died on Monday, May 5, 2014. He was born in Baden on December 28, 1931, the son of the late Floyd and Hila (Gales) Farquhar. Joe served his country as an M.P. in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Geneva College and earned his master's from the University of Pittsburgh. Joe played high school and college basketball and baseball, often confusing everyone when he and his identical twin would swap jerseys. He was drafted into the baseball minor leagues and continued his love of the sport by coaching all of his sons and generations of Moon residents through the summer league. He served as the statistician for the high school baseball team until his death. He was also a member of the Sharon Community Presbyterian Church, Moon Twp. and a member of the Elks Lodge #1090, Moon Twp. He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Joyce (Double) Farquhar; four children, Pam Farquhar, Ingram, PA, Tom Farquhar, VA, Scott Farquhar (Mary), Palmerton, PA, David Farquhar (Tracey) Crafton, PA; brother, Jerry Farquhar; five grandchildren, Tyler, Gina, Jacob, Emily and Jade. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Leila Strobel. Friends will be received on Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES OF MOON TWP. (1522 Coraopolis Hts. Rd.) where a funeral service will held be on Friday at 10 a.m. Private interment will take place at a later date.
