SNIEGOCKI GILBERT P. Gilbert “Gil”, age 82, of Baldwin Boro, formerly of the South Side, died peacefully Friday, February 28, 2014. He is survived by his devoted wife of 13 years, Marie Kuehn Schmitt- Sniegocki; and preceded in death by his first wife Bernadette and granddaughter Dana. Son of the late Stanley and Louise; loving father of Paul (Mary Beth) Sniegocki, Janice (Kenneth) Bell, Matthew (Jennifer) Sniegocki; and ten grandchildren; also survived by his brother, Ervin (Jean) Sniegocki. Preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Gil was known for his love of all sports, and at 18 years of age pitched in an All Star game at Forbes Field. He served in the Army, and while stationed in Germany pitched baseball for the Army. He was employed by J&L Steel for 35 years as a crane operator and was a member of SOAR. Gil also was a member of St. Adalbert Alumni Association. Friends received Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4, 6-8 p.m. at the JOHN J. GMITER FUNERAL HOME, 119 S. 15th St., South Side. Funeral Prayers Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Wendelin Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Wendelin Rejuvenation Fund, 2728 Custer Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15227.
