AKERHIELM JEANNE S. Age 84, of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Manlius, New York, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Born April 15, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, she is the daughter of the late Norman and Blanche Spong; beloved wife of 62 years to George Akerhielm; dear mother of Sue (Tom) Howell of Upper St. Clair, PA, and Nancy Akerhielm of Syracuse, NY; brother, Richard (Marilyn) Spong of Greensboro, NC; two cherished grandchildren, Tommy and Sarah Howell; numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanne graduated from Bucknell University in 1950 where she met her husband, George. She was a nursery school teacher early in her married life. In later years, she was an Assistant Art Director at WCNY T.V. in Syracuse, NY, and was the Art Director for the Lady Bug's Garden children's T.V. show. She also worked at the Gallery II Art & Framing Shop in Manlius, NY. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date in Syracuse, NY.
