WHITE RANDOLPH RANDY CLIFFORD, Sr. Randolph Randy Clifford White Sr., the first and only son of Randolph L. and Jeannette Mosley White, went to be home with his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2014. He was born on September 16, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Randy was the delight of his grandparents, Robert and Sally White, aunts, uncles, and friends! Always athletic and adventurous, Randy excelled at many sports, and, in a theme that would remain consistent throughout his life, was the champion for any kid who seemed to be the underdog, making sure they were treated fairly. At the age of eight he became a big brother to his only sister, Donna. He was not only her big brother, protector, confidant and playmate; they were the best of friends and knew that as a family they were blessed beyond measure! Randy was an excellent academic student and outstanding football player. He attended Herron Hill Jr. High, and Fifth Avenue High School, where he excelled on the football field. In the summer at the end of his junior year of High School he met the true love of his life, Karen V. Tucker. In his senior year at Fifth Avenue High, Randy was awarded a football scholarship to Virginia State College, now Virginia State University, in Petersburg, Virginia. While at State he joined the ROTC program. Randy graduated from VSC Virginia State College with honors, and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army. Randy chose to pursue a career in the United States Army, even though he was offered several positions in the corporate business world. Upon graduation, Randy and Karen were joined in Holy Matrimony on June 1, 1965. God would bless them with two sons, Randolph C. White, Jr. and Terrence Loren White, both of whom were an unending source of pride to Randolph, Sr. and Karen. Randolph served two combat tours in Vietnam: one as an Infantry Officer in the 4th Infantry Division, and a second as an OH-6 Scout Helicopter Pilot in the 101st Airborne Division. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for Valor during his time as a Scout Pilot. Over the course of his military career, Randolph became rated in every rotary wing aircraft in the Army inventory, and also became rated as a fixed wing pilot. He, Karen, and the boys traveled all over the country during his military career, and they never missed an opportunity to expose their son's to the cultural and historical wonders of this country. Randolph's assignments included service as an ROTC instructor at West Virginia State College, as a Battalion Commander at Fort Knox, KY, as a staff officer in Korea, and as command group fixed wing pilot at Fort Bragg, NC. Upon retirement from the military at the rank of Major, Randolph served 24 years with the Cumberland Country Department of Social Services (DSS) in a variety of positions, including Staff Trainer. Throughout his career with DSS, Randolph served as a role model for many and displayed a degree of compassion, and heartfelt caring that will always be remembered. He always had a special place in his heart for those less fortunate, saw every man and woman as his equal, and made all who crossed his path feel a special worth. Randolph was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and faithful friend. He was an avid reader of history, a passionate and lifelong aircraft pilot, loved his entire family with unconditional enthusiasm, maintained a fervent belief in life long education, and loved American Football, spending many hours with Karen and the boys watching and enjoying his favorite snack of pretzels. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved his daughters-in-law fervently, and along with Karen, was the number one fan of his sons, who were his best friends. Randolph is survived by his beloved sons, Colonel Randolph C. White, Jr. and Senior Master Sergeant Terrence L. White, Sr.; daughters-in-law, Velma and LaKisha; five grandchildren, Camille, Jeramya, Terrence, Jr., Randolph III, and Lauren; one great-grandson, Owen; sister, Donna M.
